PIPED MUSIC - SAFE FOR A WHILE LONGER

Piped music - safe for a while longer

Right: a different sort of piped music (card available from cat-alog.com)

The Piped Music and Showing of Television Programmes Bill, which was introduced as a Private Members' Bill in the House of Lords in May 2006 (see earlier IPKat posting here), has been dropped by the UK Parliament. This means that the playing of piped background music and the showing of television programmes in public areas of hospitals and on public transport is not in immediate danger of being banned. Nor are people going to have to don headphones if they want to listen to music in such areas.
