Friday felicitations

This post was prepared before the advent of the Jewish New Year and has kindly been posted by one of Jeremy's colleagues.

The IPKat is sometimes asked whether it's possible to do a site search, to hunt down those little bits of information you read months - or was it years - ago and can't quite remember when. The answer is "Yes". The IPKat weblog is indeed searchable. Just above the banner on the top of your screen that reads IPKat - IP news and fun for everyone you’ll find a little interrogation box which offers the options of “Search blog”, “Flag blog” and “Next blog”. Key your search terms into the little box, click on the option of your choice - and hope for the best.

Some of the IPKat's most searched-for stories (according to Google Analytics) here, here, here and here.

Forthcoming attractions: don't forget ...

Intellectual Property in the Fashion Industry (Grange City Hotel, London, 20 September 2007). This is a second-time-round event, following the success of last year's, and its cast includes the following speakers:
* John Sykes (Lupton Fawcett) gives a no-nonsense appraisal of the basic legal provisions, their advantages and their limitations;

* Helen Newman (Olswang) looks at the role played by trade marks in protecting the identity of fashion designers and their labels;

* LK Shields' Deirdre Kilroy, who comes all the way from Dublin to tell us about the strains and the symbioses that characterise the relationship between the fashion houses and the big retail chains.

For polling fanatics, the IPKat is trying out a new Blogger facility on the sidebar. He is testing it out with a question that seems to be exercising the minds of the French government at the moment (see, for example, here, here or here), and which nobody really knows the answer to. Thanks to Edward at Frohwitter for the suggestion.
