Kelly crocks Crocs

Yahoo! carries a news item today that Hollywood beauty Kelly Preston (right) is horrified by the recent trend for colourful Crocs shoes and can't wait to the public to tire of the plastic footwear. It reports:
"The shoes were tipped as the next big thing in fashion last year, but the footwear has only grown in popularity in 2007.

Celebrities including ... U.S. President George W. Bush have been spotted wearing the American-made shoes, which were originally designed for boaters.

Preston tells the New York Daily News, "I cannot deal with those Crocs sandals. They're comfy but no thank you! I'm happy to see that trend on its way out."
The IPKat says, there's no way of guarding against the sort of brand damage that can be inflicted through comments of this nature - which must be very frustrating for those who spend their time and effort trying to make their brands appeal to consumers. Merpel adds, if endorsement by George W. Bush didn't kill the brand it's unlikely that Ms Preston's comments will kill it off either.
