Kamil Idris to go (eventually)
After increasing pressure from various quarters, partly as a result of being revealed to be substantially younger and less experienced than he had originally claimed (see previous IPKat posts here and here), the head of WIPO Kamil Idris is to resign (AFP press release here, and commentary from IAM's Joff Wild here).
Unfortunately (at least for those who would prefer heads of important offices not to be like Jeffrey Archer or Walter Mitty), he will not be going until the end of 2008. Some sort of compromise appears to have been made, the details of which the IPKat suspects will never be made public, unlike the damning report released this year that made Mr Idris' position difficult to sustain. Merpel wonders whether Mr Idris will now be able to spend more of his renewed youth enjoying his swimming pool.
