What do Tristan da Cunha and Tunisia have in common? They are the only two countries that come between Trinidad & Tobago and Turkey in the alphabet. And what does Turkey have in common with Trinidad & Tobago? The answer is that both have taken steps to increase their level of commitment to international norms of copyright law. Turkey has acceded to the WIPO Copyright Treaty (
WCT No. 69) and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (
WPPT No. 71), both of which take effect for Turkey on
28 November 2008. By pure coincidence, Trinidad & Tobago likewise has acceded to the WIPO Copyright Treaty (
WCT No. 70) and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (
WPPT No. 72) -- with effect from exactly the same date.
