Firefox 4
With over 35,000,000 downloads in less than a week, Mozilla's Firefox 4 is something to rave about. You can download it here, or talk about it here; either way, it's the next big browser. So what are some of my favorite features? Besides the slick new 'Chromed out' look, your 'Google bar' is built right next to the URL bar, with home and favorites in close reach as well. The new FireFox tab in the upper left corner puts everything you will need in one, simple menu. In this really nice 3-part review he goes in depth on every piece of that simple menu option; This review really shows the extensibility cloaked in simplicity/useability of this new browser. Personally, I like the fact you can go to FireFox -> History -> and Restore Previous Sessions, Recently Closed Tabs, or Recently Closed Windows. This allows you to get back to your previous work quickly, or for some fast forensics work on public computers. And of course, you can get all of your favorite FireFox add-ons, such as, FireSheep, Firebug, LiveHTTPHeaders, TamperData, and the all important HTTPS Everywhere! That HTTPS is so important, the Mozilla team actually decided to make HTTP Strict Transparent Security (STS) part of the built in functionality of FF4, which is essentially built in HTTPS Everywhere. If you want to add your own extensions to their built in HTTPS Everywhere, you need to add a ForceTLS extension. Our friend gives another great review of this functionality, and also drops the quote to win it, "I would only say that whatever is your preferred browser, use the latest version." So get the latest version people! Get FireFox4!
