Foxconn kicks off Desktop PC Production in Turkey
As part of its global deployment for production capacity and reducing over-reliance on the labour force in China, Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) has commenced production at a desktop PC plant in Turkey, according to industry sources.
Foxconn signed an investment contract in August 2010, calling for a capital of US$60 million initially and aims to roll out 1.5 million desktops a year, according to industry sources.
The new plant was set up in response to shipment demand from Foxconn's top buyer for desktops, leveraging Turkey's geography proximity for shipments to northern Africa, the Middle East and Europe, the sources pointed out.
