Serving the cloud user
Ericsson has demonstrated solutions and technology to serve new type of user behavior at Broadband World Forum 2011. Through product and solution launches, Ericsson addressed the importance of transforming the network from primarily a bit pipe to an enabling platform for both consumers and service providers. Ericsson Executive Vice President & Head of Networks, Johan Wibergh delivered key notes for the importance of broadband speed for an economy during at Broadband World Forum in Paris.
Wibergh said, "Broadband has the power to spur economic growth by creating efficiency for society, businesses and consumers. It opens up possibilities for more advanced online services, smarter utility services, telecommuting and telepresence. At the same time, we see a new type of user - who is fluid across different screens and devices, demand control over identities, services and content in the cloud. The cloud users drive traffic growth and expect fast broadband speed and access from anywhere, anytime."
At Broadband World Forum, Ericsson presents new models for Total Value of Ownership and how to monetize OTT services, which support operators in their transition and thereby enable optimal user experience. Keeping the consumer in focus, one of the solutions presented provides seamless connection of smartphones and tablets to operator-controlled WiFi networks (hot-spots). Ericsson is also helping operators to find new revenue streams by exploring differentiated service offerings and how to improve the efficiency using the latest IP-based network solutions in the mobile backhaul and converged transport area.
