NMEC established in India
NEC has announced a plan to establish an NEC Mobile Network Excellence Center (NMEC) for the offshore development of mobile communication systems in Chennai, India in April this year.
The NMEC is the first mobile communication system development center that the NEC Group will establish in India. The center will design and develop hardware and software for the PASOLINK series of ultra-compact microwave communication systems, widely accepted as key products for mobile backhaul in the global market. Initially, the NMEC will be located in the NEC India office in Chennai. The center is expected to relocate to a new office in Chennai by the end of this year.
"NEC will recruit local talent and work closely with Indian development partners in order to create a global development system. NEC had previously decided to produce PASOLINK systems in the Special Economic Zone near Chennai, India and will begin shipping products from June this year. The establishment of the NMEC in India, one of the world’s largest markets, allows NEC to benefit from the global sense and development skills of local engineers, as well as further enhance its development efficiency and time to market. Furthermore, the center's development and production capabilities will enable NEC to offer competitive products to global markets," said Atsushi Noro, Deputy General Manager, NEC's Mobile Wireless Network Division.
