Innovation Jockeys of 2012 awarded 
Accenture in partnership with Yahoo! announced the winners of the Innovation Jockeys contest. A staggering total of 1082 entries were received from students from 500-odd colleges across India. The premise of this contest was very simple: Everyday innovations. This contest was divided across three categories: Home, City and College. 
The winners were announced in each category. In the City category, The team from The Young India Fellowship Programme comprised Tushar Chugh, Jatin Sharma and Rolly Seth were awarded. Their innovation was a belt for the visually-challenged, which is based on a series of vibrations that enable them to avoid obstacles. 
In the Home category, the team from the Amrita School of Engineering of Ramesh.N.Nair, Sai Manoj and Mithun Mohan won for their Gest-BOT - a gesture-based wheelchair control system innovation, designed for the disabled and elderly who had lost the ability to move. 
The College category winners went to the students from Thapar University. Amit Ranjan, Deepender Singhla and Gursimran Singh were awarded. They came up with a Smart Library Management System card. This innovation is an automatic 24x7 personless library which can detect misplaced and damaged books, and even detect thefts. 
Apart from these categories, the jury was impressed with what the contestants had to offer, especially one, who blew their minds away with his innovation. Arvind Sanjeev, from Toc-H Institute of Science & Technology won the 'Most Promising Innovator' for his Remote Vehicle Activation using Android OS . Sanjeev also won an internship with Yahoo! India.
The Accenture Tech Vision award was given to the team (Vineet Mohan, Paul Leons, Rizwan Shooja and Ajay M) behind the Smart Traffic Controller. 
The jurors also made a special mention for the most promising innovation to an unnamed team from IIT Bhubaneswar for their on-going work on detecting contaminated milk via a sensor that can sense steam.
The title of Innovation Jockeys 2012 went to the Visparsh Haptic Belt team. As the winners, the team gets to visit the Accenture Technology Labs, Sophia Antipolis (France).
