Satish Babu joins CSI
Well-known IT professional, entrepreneur and FOSS advocate, Satish Babu, took over as the President of the Computer Society of India (CSI), at a function held in the Mumbai headquarters of CSI. Satish had been previously elected the Vice-President and President-elect.
Dr. S. V. Raghavan, Scientific Secretary at the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, joined the incoming team as the Vice-President and President-elect of CSI at the same function. Satish Babu will also be one of the representatives of India in the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP), the apex organization of national societies in IT.
"As an eminent institution in a strategically important sector, CSI needs to further support nation-building through leveraging its strengths in areas such as technical education, capacity enhancement, and social and development areas such as computing for the disabled and disaster management. For this, CSI needs to harmoniously interface with other key stakeholders such as the government, civil society organizations, IT industry and academia," said Satish Babu.
"CSI also hopes to play a role in the transition to the Idea Economy- the future where ideas and innovations drive the economy as transactable entities - by encouraging, identifying, incubating and creating market-linkages for innovation, from all sections of the society and from all geographies," he added.
