SDI Scheme goes Online
Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGE&T) has announced that a webportal has been developed for the effective implementation of Skill Development Scheme (SDIS) to promote training of around 6 lakh people in India annually. Hewlett Packard (HP) India has developed the portal.
Mallikrjun Kharge, Union Minister of Employment & Training congratulated HP and DGET while dedicating this portal to the nation.DGE&T works closely with the State Governments and Vocational Training Providers (VTP) are engaged to provide professional training to unskilled and semi-skilled workforce in the country. The trained candidates are then assessed by empanelled Assessing Bodies (ABs) and certified ready for employment.
"The Skill Development Initiative (SDI) scheme was introduced to develop skilled manpower, provide employment and help citizens to have an improved standard of living," said Sharda Prasad, Director General /Joint Secretary. "With this webportal, timely access to information across all stakeholders would be available thereby offering better citizen-centric services in a transparent manner as stated by the Director General/Joint Secretary, DGET."
