HP starts fulfilling UP Government Contract for providing 1.5M Notebooks

Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) has begun fulfillment for India’s largest digital inclusion project - the distribution of 1.5 million HP notebooks by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government to eligible students in the state. The first 10,000 HP notebooks were handed out by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri Akhilesh Yadav, in Lucknow.
As part of the project, HP notebooks are being provided by the UP state government to all students passing Class 12 or equivalent examinations in 2012, and enrolling in higher education, in the Uttar Pradesh region.
