Dell India takes another step towards Its Social Innovation Challenge

To strengthen environmental awareness, Dell India(NASDAQ:DELL) has announced installation of a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Grid Connected System at its Whitefield campus in Bangalore. This deployment will help Dell to reduce its carbon footprint by an estimated 54.9 tons of CO2-equivalent per year. The grid system comprises of a capacity of 42.78 kilowatt.
Deepak Ohlyan, Executive Director of Facilities, Dell India, said, “Dell supports various environment-friendly efforts – from ways to reduce global emissions to incorporating power-efficiencies and employing sustainability practices. This Solar PV Grid Connected System installation strengthens Dell’s commitment to operate our facilities in a responsible manner.”
According to Dell, this campus becomes the second campus globally and first in the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region to deploy a solar PV system. Another highlight of the project is that Dell’s installation of 186 solar panels across 3,340-sq. ft. will avoid the use of batteries.
