Microsoft Ponies Up $100K in First Bug Bounty Payment
Since Microsoft announced in June that it would be hitching its wagon to the bug bounty phenomenon, security researchers have been salivating over the $100,000 Mitigation Bypass Bounty, offered for “truly novel exploitation techniques” against protections built into the latest version of the Windows 8 operating system. James Forshaw, head of vulnerability research at UK-based Context Information Security, is the first recipient of this particular reward within the cash-for-exploits program.
