One of the advantages of Kali is that it is highly customizable. You can change almost everything in it somehow. I even managed to change the start menu icon ounce. This Tutorial will show you how to add panels, remove panels, add items to the them, and even edit them!

Step One:

Start Kali Linux and login to your root account.

Step Two:

We’ll start by removing a toolbar. To do this hit Alt + Right Click. and select delete this panel from the popup menu. Don’t delete all the panels, if you do, adding one will be much harder. Move to Step Two to see what I mean.

Step 2

Step Three:

To add a panel, you have to Alt + Right-click on a panel and click on New Panel, if you delete all of them, you’ll not be able to do this.

Step 3

Step Four:

To add icons to a panel, Alt + Right Click and select Add to Panel… Once you do this, a new window will popup allowing you to add a ton of cool icons.

Step 4

Step Five:

Now we know how to add panels, remove them and add stuff to them. But another thing you can do with panels is actually edit them. That means changing the looks and functionality of them. To do this, Alt + Right Click on a panel that you want to edit and select Properties

Step 5

In the window that opens, you can change the height of the panel, choose hide if you want it to automatically hide when you’re not hovering on it, and even change the orientation if you want it to reside on the bottom of your screen or the side, or maybe even the top. You can also click on the Background tab if you want to change the color of it or make it slightly transparent.

Step 6

Okay, so now you’ve learned how to do some basic stuff to your panels. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
