Uganda to host Banking Fraud and ICT Security Conference



The 3rd Annual East Africa Banking and ICT Security Summit will be held on April 25 in Kampala Uganda.

The one day summit organised by Cyber Security Africa, and Co hosted by National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA U) and ICT Association of Uganda will explore solutions to banking fraud, IT security threats, risk and regulatory issues affecting financial institutions, government agencies and other organisations.The theme of the summit is Strengthening Banking and ICT Development in East Africa.

“We are targeting players in the financial services market, information technology security providers and even government agencies,” Speaking in Uganda Cyber Security Africa Alliance Manager for Africa Mr. Sammy Kioko. He said delegates from different fields globally will identify the technical, environmental and business risks that lead to service vulnerability, weaken consumer confidence that ultimately erode brand value, thus causing revenue declines.

“The summit will discuss ideas on articulating and implementing appropriate risk management strategies, how to optimise internal processes and ensure systems and hardware infrastructures are robust enough to mitigate risk,” he said.The conference will centre on key security issues on core banking systems, software, mobile banking, cards and payments, fraud and risk management solutions.

Cyber Security Africa says security systems risks have been identified as the biggest challenge for many organisations in the region. Mr. Sammy said poor IT and banking security had infiltrated all levels businesses and individual lives. He said East Africa is well positioned to become the first region in Africa to develop comprehensive security for banks and IT systems.The conference is sponsored by EliteVad Dubai, Fintech Group, IBM, Sab among others.
