Samsung S5 vs HTC One M8 vs Sony Xperia Z2: which is the right choice?
The smartphone war is reaching a crucial stage, with the three major players Samsung, HTC and Sony, firing on all cylinders with their latest devices. With a potential to spread across a massive market in the coming years, this battle will be significant to decide which one of the big three enjoy the biggest market share and brand leadership in the near future. Let’s have a comparison to see how well, or badly, they stack up against each other.

Design, looks and display
Htc one m8 has top-of-the line design embellished with a, curved metal back plate that gives great comfort.  The Sony Xperia Z2 has a glass back that appears to be delicate and leads to some apprehension while using it. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has gone with an austere approach, still trusting its plastic build that bothers some but provides great utility of being able to reach the battery, a function both its rivals lack.

HTC One M8 has a 5in screen, Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 5.1, and the Sony Xperia Z2 boasts of a 5.2in screen . Samsung steers it clear when it comes to image quality as the  Super AMOLED screen gives an image that’s rich in texture and crisp in definition, with an alterable  color saturation . Sony puts its hopes on the three pillars of  Triluminos, X-Reality and Live Colour LED systems, which combine to give a good effect overall.

At the core

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 is the common thread running through the core of all three,, though Samsung have an edge with its 2.5 GHz version. Samsung and HTC have provided 2GB of RAM, while Sony has added another Gigabyte to it, but the overloading of apps has forced its processor to work overtime, creating undesired problems of the system heating up.
16GB of built-in memory plus a microSD card slot is a feature that the three phones share..  After deducting usage by interface, some in-built apps and the skin of the android, the HTC One M8 has 10.1GB free, the Sony Xperia Z2 is left with 10.7GB, and the Samsung Galaxy S5 leads the race with11.2GB.

Snap it up
The  HTC One M8 with its ultrapixels packed into the 4MP, ensure detailed images capturing all the intricacies of the moment.Samsung’s Camera has been a revelation in the field of smartphones with its array of features including 4K video recording,  HDR muliti-motion image capture options and a super sensitive ISODELL sensor. Sony’s mammoth  20.7 MPs can provide absolutely stunning image quality, but the capacity of the processor to handle such heavy photography remains in doubt.

“Extras” that matter

Two features of samsung deserve a mention, The IP67 standard and the heart rate monitor . The first ensures that S5 can survive for atleast 30 minutes under a metre of water! The second is a sensor which measures your pulse rate if you keep your index finger on it.HTC m8’s externallly located hardware stereo speakers give a heavenly sound quality that are unmatched by its rivals. Much was expected out of the Z2’s multimedia features, but they failed to give out anything new.
