2014Android 4.4 Kit-Kat New Features

Recently Android 4.3 was rolled out for Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. Apart from this, there's also a news on the launching of the new Android Kit kat 4.4 which has been delayed a bit. It was said that the launch has been delayed due to the launch of LG's G Flex. The new operating system will ship on the Nexus 5 out of the box, and will also be available for the Nexus 4, the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10, in addition to the Google Play Edition HTC One and Galaxy S4, in the coming weeks.

Android Kit-Kat 4.4 Features:

1. Say "OK, Google":
Google is introducing pseudo always-on voice search with KitKat, and a new way to get to Google Now. You can activate voice search from your homescreen with a key phrase without even touching the display, but it works only on the Nexus 5 for now. Otherwise you can swipe from your homescreen to get to Google Now, and speak the phrase "OK, Google" there. These will evoke the personal assistant, which Google says is now 25% more accurate, and talks back.

2. New dialer and smart Caller ID:
The new phone app automatically priorities your contacts based on who you talk to the most. When you get a caller from an unknown number, Google Maps will search for matches from businesses with a local listing. How efficient this will be in India, remains to be seen.

3. Hangouts and messaging integration:
Google has got rid of the SMS app and now everything is about Hangouts. Users can search across contacts, including Google Apps accounts. With the new Hangouts app, all of your SMS and MMS messages are together in the same app, alongside your other conversations and video calls. And with the new Hangouts, you can even share your location and send animated GIFs.

4. Immersion Mode:
There’s a new immersive mode, which automatically hides everything else when you’re reading, playing a game or watching a movie. Just swipe the edge of the screen to bring back your status bar and navigation buttons.

5. Emoji:
Google keyboard now has Emoji smileys in it as well. This also includes addition of Japanese characters. Good news for those who love these colorful Japanese characters.

6. Print From Anywhere:
Users can now print documents from phones. You can print to any printer connected to Google Cloud Print, to HP ePrint printers, and to other printers that have apps in the Google Play Store.

7. Faster Multitasking:
Android 4.4 KitKat was specifically built to optimize memory so that everything runs faster, especially while multiple tasks are operating in the background. Just go to Settings>Home, and you'll switch from Apex to Nova to your stock KitKat homescreen in a jiffy. We didn't really have any issues in Jelly Bean, so the jury is still out on how much smoother KitKat will be.

8. Deeper Media Integration:
Android 4.4 KitKat also includes full-screen album and movie art while you’re playing a movie or music on your Chromecast, and your device is locked. You can also access your media controls from the lockscreen. You can play, pause, or seek to a specific moment.

Will try my best to update you with all the other features once I get around it..

*Currently only available on Nexus 5
Cheers!!
