Looking for some discussion on IP enforcement? Two events for you
Living in a beautiful enforcement world: London ... |
Is IP enforcement and its effectiveness - or lack thereof - what you think of all day long? Then these two events might be for you.
IP Enforcement in London Like this Kat, you might be thrilled to attend this week's International IP Enforcement Summit taking place in London.
But what is this event about?
David Barker (UK Intellectual Property Office) explains:
"Globally, digitally pirated music, films and software accounts for huge losses of revenue. Some industry analysts expect these losses to rise to around $240bn by 2015. Combined with the trade in physical counterfeit goods, this has a huge impact on the global economy.
The UK Intellectual Property Office is hosting a unique International Summit on IP enforcement at Central Hall in Westminster on 11-12 June 2014. The summit will look at the international IP enforcement challenges and measures needed to tackle amongst other things, counterfeiting and piracy. It will also look at protecting the rights of creators, rights holders and consumers in an age of global trade and digital economies.
Speakers and delegates will represent all sides of the international debate. Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills, representatives from the National Crime Agency, EUROPOL and INTERPOL will attend.
... or Paris, or both |
Other key figures and organisations at the Summit include the US Ambassador to the UK, WCO, and from industry Alibaba, Unilever, Lacoste, LVHM’s worldwide IP Director, and Gucci, representing sectors which have been reluctant to engage in the past. And we have the outgoing and incoming presidencies for the EU, including the Italian Minister [speaking of Italy, this Kat sees from the programme that also AGCOM President and Katfriend Marcello Cardani will be there, most likely to speak of his Authority's recently adopted online copyright enforcement regulation, on which see katposts here] fact finding how they are going to take forward the protection of IPRs, a key priority for their presidency.
Much of the Summit, including the keynote speeches, will be streamed live on the web, here. Of course, it will be also possible to follow comment on and discussion about the Summit on Twitter at #IPSummit14 and with @The_IPO."
