30 Indian software firms split from Nasscom
In a surprising revelation, thirty Indian software product companies have come together to form a new association. If reports are to be believed, this is the first major break from the omnibus IT industry body NASSCOM which could reflect the growing confidence and maturity of the software product community.
As a result of the breakaway from NASSCOM, a new association will be formed, which will be named the Indian Software Product Industry Round Table (iSpirt). The founding members expect the basic building blocks to develop an improved software industry. The association is planning to share its expertise and collective experiences with members, and create a larger awareness in the society and government about the critical role of the software industry.
According to a latest update, the new trade body will be led by Bharat Goenka, co-founder of Tally Solutions, and aided by start-up mentor and founder of Brand Sigma, Sharad Sharma, Naveen Tewari, CEO and founder of InMobi, and Vishnu Dusad, founder of Nucleus Software.
"A few good software services companies may be good enough to serve the top 500 hospitals in India. But if you want to address 5,00,000 or more hospitals around the country, you cannot do it without software products," said Bharat Goenka, Managing Director, Tally Solutions.
