MakeHuman 1.0.2 released , Install On Linux Suse 12.3, 13.1 and Fedora 19,20

MakeHuman is a 3-Dimensional humanoid characters modelling software. Features that make this software innovative and unique include a new, highly intuitive GUI and a high quality mesh, optimized to work in subdivision surface mode (for example, Zbrush). Using MakeHuman, a photorealistic character can be modeled in less than 2 minutes.


MakeHuman is the free and open source software to create realistic 3d humans for:
  • Illustrations
  • Animations
  • Games
  • Zbrush/Mudbox sculpting
To Install MakeHuman 1.0.2 On Linux Suse 12.3, 13.1 and Fedora 19,20 , open a new Terminal window and bash (get it?) in the following commands:

NOTE: You will  be asked to trust the GPG key on first adding the repository for your distribution.

1) Add the repository for Makehuman using the below command:

For Suse 12.3:

zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Aiena/openSUSE_12.3/ MakeHuman

For Suse 13.1:

zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Aiena/openSUSE_13.1/ MakeHuman

2) Install makehuman using the below command.

zypper in MakeHuman

Installation instructions for fedora 19/20

1) Add the fedora repository for 19/20 with the command below.

For fedora 19:

yum-config-manager --add-repo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Aiena/Fedora_19/home:Aiena.repo

For fedora 20:

yum-config-manager --add-repo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Aiena/Fedora_20/home:Aiena.repo

2) Install the MakeHuman package:

yum install makehuman

(These packages have been tested but if you find some bugs please report them in the bugtracker
