Top 5 Fabulous Wearable devices

Wearables: the latest tech trend technology integrated right into your clothing.  Is it a fad or something more?

Business Insider forecasts more than 30% growth in the wearable market by 2018, with growth since 2010 well over 25%. The year 2014 may go down as a game changer for wearables, with innovation and usability making its way to the market and sales already reaching a record high 8 million annual shipments.

Here are a few of the best products that could finally make wearables a big hit amongst consumers:

1. Vigo

Caffeine tends to be the weapon of choice in the war against afternoon fatigue, but Vigo Technologies  is offering a wearable, high tech solution. Vigo is a wearable device that can be worn on the ear. It is connected to the Vigo mobile application and tracks your energy by with metrics like your number of blinks per minute and body movement. When your activity decreases, Vigo uses built-in soft LED lights and vibrations to help reenergize you. The mobile application deliver reports on your daily activity and illustrate your energy flow throughout the day and advises ways to maintain your energy levels throughout the day.

2. Creoir Ibis

What’s a smart watch category without a luxury segment? With smart watches increasing in popularity, it was only a matter of time before luxury smart watches made their way into production, and wearable tech producer Creoir hopes to lead the trend with its Ibis watch. Creoir looks to compete with the likes of Rolex and Breitling with Ibis and has emphasized focus on usability and design in product development. Ibis features a dual screen layout with a traditional analog quartz placed immediately next to a custom Android-based UI. With attributes that appeal to both luxury consumers and techies, Ibis will definitely make a splash.

3. Apple Watch
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the newly announced Apple Watch.  Working as an addition to the Apple iPhone, the Apple Watch is wearable computer.  Featuring three different versions, the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Edition (covered in 18K gold), and a version intended for sport and fitness, the Apple Watch does it all.  It tracks your fitness (heart rate, steps, calories burnt) like a Fitbit or similar devices, charges wirelessly, sends notifications from your iPhone, and gives you access to a whole host of apps that run on a version of iOS.

4. Nike+

The intersection of popular brands and technology does not always result in increased sales, but Nike has found its place with its Nike+ products. With smart bands like the Nike+ Fuelband, partnerships with Apple, and connected athletic shoes from their signature lines, Nike has established itself as a leader and innovator in connected athletic wear and looks to expand its influence with updated applications that will become available as Apple releases their aforementioned new products in the coming months. If you are looking for a fitness specific wearable, these are the ones to run to.

5. Google Glass

One of the most interruptive wearables has been the Google Glass. Its use has challenged lawmakers around the world who seek to protect privacy without being an obstacle to product innovation. With a high price point and unique design, Google Glass has become a niche product but focused a specialized set of consumers by partnering with high fashion retailers like Net-A-Porter. Google Glass has yet to make a big impression amongst mass consumers but that could change as wearables continue to be adopted by consumers.
