Chakra-2014.11-Euler released

Chakra-2014.11-Euler released

Chakra GNU/Linux is a user-friendly and powerful distribution and live CD originally forked from Arch Linux. It features a graphical installer, automatic hardware detection and configuration, the latest KDE desktop, and a variety of tools and extras.

The Chakra team is happy to announce the second release of the Chakra Euler series, which follows the KDE Applications and Platform 4.14 releases.

The main reason for providing this new ISO, in addition to providing a new KDE release, is that Chakra has now implemented the /usr merge changes. If you already have Chakra installed on your system manual intervention is needed, so please follow the instructions on how to properly update. For new installations using this ISO, this is of course not needed.

This ISO ships with the following notable packages and updates:

  • kde-workspace 4.11.13

    Core Packages:
  • kernel 3.16.4
  • xorg-server 1.15.2
  • systemd 216

    Tribe:
  • Partition manager received some patches, there should now be no problem installing Chakra inside virtualization software.
  • Some hardware detection bugs were fixed.

    Drivers:

  • xf86-video-nouveau 1.0.10
  • xf86-video-ati 7.4.0
