Trinity Desktop Environment is an open source and totally free software project that has been designed from the ground up as an unofficial continuation of the deprecated KDE 3.5.x desktop environment created by the KDE Project and implemented in numerous distributions of Linux in the past.

It is an independent graphical desktop environment that aims to keep KDE 3.5 alive and improve various components, such as network connectivity, display control or user authentication, making it available to modern distributions of Linux that have a lightweight design goal.
