EMC joins hands with Rajasthan Technical University for Skill Development

EMC Corporation has announced partnership with Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), Kota to support the faculty and students in enhancing their skills in the areas of Cloud Computing, Information Storage and Data Analytics. EMC, through its Academic Alliance initiative, will offer unique “open” curriculum based-education on technology topics like cloud computing, big data analytics and information storage and management to faculty and students from the institute. With this association, the company expects to train over 1,000 faculty members, in turn benefiting over 7,000 students who are currently pursuing cloud computing as a core subject in RTU’s B. Tech programme.

The rapid growth in digital information is spurring the demand for trained storage, IT infrastructure, cloud, data science and analytics professionals who possess the skills and knowledge relevant for the changing industry. This fast-paced increase in demand has resulted in a massive shortfall of skilled industry-ready professionals. As per an EMC Zinnov study, the private cloud industry alone in India is expected to create 100,000 jobs by 2015 from 10,000 in 2011 and the demand is unlikely to be met. The EMC Academic Alliance initiative aims to bridge the skill-gap in a rapidly changing IT environment and prepare students for better employability.

Initiatives like these will play a pivotal role in addressing the need for trained storage, IT infrastructure, cloud, data science and analytics professionals who possess the skills and knowledge relevant for the changing industry,” said Krishna Kant, Head, EMC Academic Alliance – South Asia & Russia.
