PhotoQt 1.2.1 released, Install on Fedora, OpenSUSE, Linux Mint/Ubuntu via PPA


Install/Update to PhotoQt 1.2.1 on Ubuntu 15.04 vivid Vervet, ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr (LTS), Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Fedora 22,

PhotoQt is a totally free, multiplatform and open source desktop application designed from the offset to act as a highly configurable, flexible and extremely fast/responsive image viewer software that boasts a modern and uncluttered graphical user interface implemented in Qt5.

The latest version available is PhotoQt 1.2.1, which has been recently released, coming with the below changes and fixes:
  • Fix: Transitioning half-transparent images caused issues
  • Fix: Wheel Sensitivity
  • Fix: Store window geometry in proper folder
  • Fix: Set default values to global variables
  • Fix: Properly quit PhotoQt
  • Fix: Check for which imagereader to use
  • Fix: Treat symlinks to images as own image
  • Add: Option to completely disable tray icon

PhotoQt 1.2.1 released, Install on Linux Mint and Ubuntu via PPA

To install PhotoQt 1.2.1 on Ubuntu 15.04 vivid Vervet, ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr (LTS), Ubuntu 13.10/13.04/12.04, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0, Linux Lite 2.2 and other Ubuntu derivative systems, open a new Terminal window and bash (get it?) in the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:samrog131/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install photoqt

Also, PhotoQt is available for the latest Fedora systems via some third party repository.

How to install PhotoQt 1.2.1 on Fedora 22 systems:
$ sudo wget http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:zhonghuaren/Fedora_22/home:zhonghuaren.repo -O /etc/yum.repos.d/home:zhonghuaren.repo
$ sudo dnf install photoqt

Optional, to remove photoqt, do:
$ sudo dnf remove photoqt

How to install PhotoQt 1.2.1 on Fedora 21 systems:
$ sudo wget http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:zhonghuaren/Fedora_21/home:zhonghuaren.repo -O /etc/yum.repos.d/home:zhonghuaren.repo
$ sudo yum install photoqt
Optional, to remove photoqt, do:
$ sudo yum remove photoqt

The source is available now. Binary packages are in the process of being built, and will appear soon at their respective download locations.
