Creating a Windows 10 Bootable USB Disk

Windows 10 is finally released for commercial users and is available for download and installation. Windows 10 has so far received positive feedbacks and therefore it is a good idea to install and use it. For upgrading your existing Windows or installing a new version, you first need to create a USB bootable disk.

The process for creating a bootable USB drive is quite simple. For it you will need a USB drive without of any data. Even if you have data on your drive, it will be formatted when you make a bootable device. Windows 10 installation setup process requires at least 3 GB space. Hence use a USB drive with minimum 4 GB space. For creating a bootable drive, download Windows 10 media creation tool from the website of Microsoft.

First check if  you have a 32-bit or a 64-bit version of Windows on your computer. Click Start, then Control Panel, followed by System and Security, System and System Type. After checking this, boot your computer, insert USB flash drive and shut down your PC. Restart it and select USB derive for booting it by pressing any key.

After your PC starts from the USB drive, you will view the Install Windows page. Click ‘Next’ and install the Windows 10. If your PC already has a licenced copy Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or a Windows 10, you do not have to enter the product key. Select the option “Upgrade this PC now” and choose the upgrade the current installation option or select another drive for installing another copy of Windows 10. It will format the drive selected by you. You can select the drive when you see the prompt “Where do you want to install Windows”.
