Escape Review: 60 Minutes to Escape, Spark of Resistence

Spark of Resistance is the flagship game of 60 Minutes to Escape, one of the highest rated escape game scenario in Portland, OR. This was an unbelievable escape the room game, one I will remember for a long time to come. The location was actually a little hard to find, we had to get the address of the Yelp page, and the area seemed rough at night, but once inside it turned out to be a cozy venue of small businesses. We went with a party of eight, four of our friends and four that we met through the game. The room rich with all sorts of challenges and decor, most of which had a militaristic / goverment vibe. The theme was spy focused and involved figuring out where a missing agent was, all while behind enemy lines. The very first challenge was actually my favorite aspect of this game, we had to social engineer a guard at the start. Making the first challenge of the game talking our way past a person and through the first room was very fun! The social engineering really interesting and unlike any escape game I've played previously. Luckily, I've been reading a ton on social engineering, and the team assembled before hand to all settle on a pretext in unison, then voted on me to be the lead. I bet you guessed it faithful reader, we made it through this social challenge with a confident style and time saving ease! But on the level, they give you food stamps you can use to bribe the guard if your SE skills fail you. The rest of the game was also a blast, involving a wide spectrum of challenges, from reassembling photos to decoding secret messages, and some really cool tech along the way! To subset your curiosity, our group made it out with seconds to spare, it was so down to the wire that everyone cheered when the final door clicked open. Unfortunately, despite taking our victory photo with their camera, they never got uploaded due to the place citing technical difficulties, which is pretty disappointing. Finally, this game was so fun that I still have to suggest it to others. It was named one of the 10 best Escape Games of 2015 by Room Escape Artist (read their review here), who posts escape room reviews throughout the year (I actually got the idea from them while googling and waiting for my first escape game)! And if that wasn't enticing enough, the following is a video of this exact game, a rare sneak peak at the inside of an escape room game (But that's not our group in the video):
