How To Play Google’s Star Wars Game Right Now Using Your Phone As Lightsaber

Short Bytes: Gripped by the Star Wars mania, Google has released a fun Chrome Experiment named Lightsaber Escape. It’s a game that turns your phone into a lightsaber and allows you to kill Stormtroopers.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is about to hit the cinemas. Just like the rest of us, Google is equally excited about the same. The tech giant has partnered once again with LucasFilm and Disney to bring a new experience called “Lightsaber Escape”.

Disney has been pushing the biggest movie of the year in every possible manner. While our genius scientists have failed us and the real lightsabers still don’t exist, Google has offered the next-best thing in the form of a game that converts your phone into a lightsaber.

Lightsaber Escape is a Chrome experiment that was made with the help of Star Wars visual effects studio Industrial Light & Magic. The program uses WebRTC and WebSocket for real-time communication between your desktop and phone. For 3D graphics, it uses WebGL.

A great thing about the Chrome experiment is that it works in other browsers too. Take a look at the steps below and play the game right away:

Go to lightsaber.withgoogle.com on your desktop’s Chrome browser. You’ll see an instruction to open a particular URL.
Now you’ll be asked to “Calibrate” your phone (read Lightsaber) by holding it vertically with both hands.
After the calibration, you’ll have to turn on the Lightsaber to proceed with your training.
Now holding a lightsaber and embracing the Light side, you’ve become a Star destroyer. As you proceed in your training, you’ll be killing Stormtroopers with your phone.
