Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS Derivative System is Released
Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS is released, The Trusty Tahr edition of the world's most popular free operating system, Ubuntu Linux
Ubuntu is a freely distributed and open source Linux-based operating system designed by human beings for human beings, people who have no previous knowledge of Linux OSes and expect a solid computing experience.
It is based on the well known Debian GNU/Linux operating system and built around the GNOME desktop environment, but using a custom user interface as its desktop environment, called Unity.
Distributed as 32-bit and 64-bit Live DVDs
The system is distributed as hybrid Live DVD ISO images, which means that users can download and write them to either USB flash drives or blank DVD discs. Supported architectures include 64-bit (amd64), 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit Mac (amd64).
If you deploy the live ISO images to USB sticks that are larger than 2GB, it is possible to use the live session in persistence mode, which means that you can save certain files or configurations and reuse the media whenever you want.
The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the release of Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
(Long-Term Support) for its Desktop, Server, Cloud, and Core products,
as well as other flavours of Ubuntu with long-term support.
We have expanded our hardware enablement offering since 12.04, and with
14.04.4, this point release contains an updated kernel and X stack for
new installations to support new hardware across all our supported
architectures, not just x86.
As usual, this point release includes many updates, and updated
installation media has been provided so that fewer updates will need to
be downloaded after installation. These include security updates and
corrections for other high-impact bugs, with a focus on maintaining
stability and compatibility with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
