Israel should seize opportunity of Saudi-Iran conflict, report

Israel is carefully following the ongoing conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which will eventually decrease the influence of Iran, Israel’s strategic enemy, especially after signing the historic nuclear deal with world powers, an analysis report recently published by Haaretz claimed. According to the report, Arab Sunni states are now more interested in conformation with Iran than criticizing the Israeli policy in Palestine. Thus, the Sunni-Shiite conflict has replaced the Israeli-Arab conflict. This can easily be missed as the Palestinian Authority has aligned its policies with Saudi Arabia, and more importantly, the Palestinian armed groups has explicitly been involved in fighting Iran and its Lebanese arm, Hezbollah, in Syria. The report underlined what it has called a “golden opportunity that Israel should snatch to achieve a multilateral peace”, in order to make use of “the prevailing Middle East crises that have helped improve the position of Israel in the region”. “If Israel were to challenge the serious threats it has, i.e. guaranteeing survival and reducing the influence of Iran and Hezbollah, they must use the capacity of its interested Sunni Arab partners some of which are aspiring to establish good relations with Israel since long to work towards achieving a comprehensive peace with Israel”, the report added.
