Thursday Tart

Looking for ...
Looking for an IP event to attend? Spring is fast approaching and there is nothing better than locking yourself in a room to listen to some IP presentations and discussions to enjoy it at its very best. There is indeed plenty of events to attend: take a look at the IPKat Forthcoming Events page, and also the handy list compiled on a monthly basis by our friends at the Queen Mary Intellectual Property Journal.

Looking for a career change?   Katfriend Jillianne Osborne (Vodafone) has been in touch with the Kats to let readers know that Vodafone is seeking to recruit a new legal counsel with intellectual property or brand legal experience. The position is based in London, at Vodafone Paddington offices to be more precise. Further details are available here.

Looking for a new fashion law resource?  Last week this Kat was invited to attend the 1st Fashion Law Masterclass at the London's Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design. This was a thoroughly enjoyable event that fashion law start-up Fashion Law & Business (FLB) organised. Whilst fashion law as a self-standing discipline that combines knowledge and expertise from a range of legal areas (including intellectual property, employment law, contract law, etc) has been arguably first developed in the US, Europe has been catching up quickly.

If you are interested in this area of the law, you can follow FLB's initiatives via its Twitter and Facebook accounts. Speaking of Twitter, this Kat often gets some interesting insights on fashion business and law also via The Fashion Law (though the focus is more on the US side of things).

And finally: looking for a new lawsuit?  Music Business Worldwide reports that - following similar lawsuits against Tidal and Spotify - now also Google Play has been sued for alleged underpayment of mechanical royalties before the New York District Court for the Southern District of New York.
