Of the almost 12,000 refugees currently trapped the on Greek-Macedonian borders 5,000 of them are Kurds. Many of them told Rudaw that war and unemployment are what motivated them to leave their homes and try and start a new life in Europe.

The lives of these refugees are getting tougher by the day. Many of them have sold their properties in order to finance their migration. But, due to a recent agreement sign between the EU and Turkey, deportation of migrants is set to begin from Monday onward.

Two Kurdish refugees set themselves on fire recently, one died and the other is critically wounded.
