Love IP enforcement? Come to Brussels next week for the Commission's IP Enforcement Conference!

The AmeriKat excited about a whole
conference on IP enforcement
The AmeriKat currently has a four dedicated IP passions - SPCs, the UPC, trade secrets and remedies.  Luckily for her 2016 has so far been an exciting year for all four.  In particular, IP remedies in Europe is undergoing a potential renaissance in the form of the Commission's Consultation on the IP Enforcement Directive (2004/48/EC) which closed on 15 April 2016 (see here).

As part of their on-going work, the Commission will be holding "IPR Enforcement Conference 2016" in Brussels next Tuesday (21 June 2016).  The conference will give key stakeholders an opportunity to discuss the latest developments in IP enforcement and remedies following the announcements made in last year's Digital Single Market Strategy and Single Market Strategy.  A particular focus will be a review of the progress made and next steps in setting up and applying "follow-the-money" mechanisms, based on a self-regulatory approach.  There will also be an update on the IP Enforcement Directive consultation.

With keynote speeches and four panel sessions in the mix, the illustrious speaker line up includes:
  • Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska
  • US Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Danny Marti
  • Carlo D'Asaro Biondo (Google)
  • Meena Sayal (Unilever)
  • Peter Bayley (Visa Europe)
  • Andrea di Carlo (EUIPO)
  • Salawomir Tokarski (DG GROW)
  • Cedric Dufor (Priceminster)
  • Walter van Holst (Edri)
  • Julia Reda MEP
Registration starts at 8:30AM, with kick off at 9:30AM and proceedings ending at 5PM.  The conference will also be live streamed here.  The AmeriKat hopes to see you there!
