First appearance of ads in Local Pack found in UK mobile search result
At the SMX Advanced Local Workshop in June, Google confirmed that ads would be appearing in the Local Pack. At the time it wasn’t clear when this would roll out or whether the ad would replace one of the listings or become a fourth position in the Pack.
However, yesterday Ryan Scollon spotted a Local Pack with three organic listings and one ad at the top in a UK mobile search:
The screenshot shown at the Local Workshop at SMX Advanced in Seattle had one ad and two organic listings in contrast to the above.
We reached out to Google for a comment but have yet to hear back. My guess is that Google is still testing formats and this isn’t yet a formal roll out. We’ll update this post if we get any statements or new information from Google.
