Dark Audacity is a customised version of Audacity® powered by Audacity, the free open source sound editor.
If you're used to Audacity you should have no difficulties finding your way around in DarkAudacity.

The menus have been rearranged, but the functions you need are still there.
Sync-Lock button has gone. Use Time-Lock from the Tracks menu instead.
I've swapped Record and Record-Append. Now recording adds ot the end of your track, unless you hold shift down when you click 'Record'.
You won't get 'stuck in pause' now. Many items that were previously forbidden in pause are now allowed, and end pause when you click them.

DIY/Do It Yourself: Upgrade to the Latest Release

Requirements 7-Zip, NPP/Notepad++ or other text editor, PortableApps.com Launcher Generator/PAL, PortableApps.com Installer/PAI.

Get the latest portable app. template, and extract the content with 7-Zip.
Get the latest Dark Audacity release.
Put it in the same folder as the extracted template, in our example C:\0TEST, then extract the installer by following this guide.
Move InfoBefore.rtf from embedded folder to {app} folder.
Move {app} folder to C:\0TEST\DarkAudacityPortable\App and rename it to DarkAudacity
Browse to DarkAudacityPortable\App\AppInfo and open appinfo.ini file with NPP. Replace the [Version] section with the latest version number. Make sure the PackageVersion entry is in 4 place digit, eg. 2.3.2.0 not just 2.3.2,

Run PAL, paste the template folder address C:\0TEST\DarkAudacityPortable, and click Go—a new launcher will be created,
Test the new launchers by following this guide.
When all is OK, then delete the DarkAudacityPortable\Data folder and run PAI, paste the package folder address C:\0TEST\DarkAudacityPortable, and click Go—to create the installer package.
Use the installer package to upgrade your portable application. Don't forget to at least backup your Data folder before any upgrade :)
