Merpel has gazed into the future but
is keeping it a secret
Future of UK Patent Framework. This Westminster Policy Forum is taking place on February 2nd 2017, and will see the EPO's Dr Margot Fröhlinger, His Honour Judge Hacon and more senior speakers discuss the patent landscape and the UPC framework. [Merpel points out that by February we may have some murky inkling of what is going on. Maybe.] This forum will also be discussing wider aspects of policy, both cross-border and domestic, including the upcoming Unjustified Threats Bill. For more information and to register, it's here.


IPO gender and patent study. This recent study by the IPO suggests that the gender gap in worldwide patenting is substantial but also decreasing, with the proportion of female inventors seeing a 100% increase in the last 20 years. The overall proportion of patents involving a female inventor has increased by 500% since 1975. To read the full and fascinating global study for yourself, it can be found here.


Fashion Law Masterclass. This masterclass is taking place at the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design in London on 27th September, and will explore all the legal tools necessary for a fashion business. Fashion is a completely unique commercial environment for IP, and this workshop is specifically recommended for entrepreneurs, fashion labels and brand owners.
