Why Are Employees the Weakest Link in Breach Prevention? Hear Answers at IAPP Global Privacy Summit
Employees are a company’s biggest asset, but when it comes to cyber security, they are often the weakest link. Unfortunately, a large number of security incidents are caused by employee negligence or the compromise of their computers or phones, leaving even companies with strong technical security programs at risk. Yet mitigating the risk caused by employees continues to be a challenge for companies and an area that needs more attention in many organizations.
We will be discussing this topic and unveiling findings from our latest Ponemon Institute study at the upcoming IAPP Global Privacy Summit at our session titled “Employee Negligence and Breaches: How to Strengthen Your Weakest Link” on April 5 at 11:00 a.m. The conference is being held at the Washington Marriott Marquis Hotel in Washington D.C.
I’ll be moderating an expert panel that includes:
- Ted Kobus, Co-Leader of Privacy and Data Protection at BakerHostetler
- Dan Solove, President and CEO of TeachPrivacy
- Jim Hansen, COO of PhishMe
We’ll explore why trainings can be ineffective, examine employee attitudes about security and how to shore up the front lines. If you miss the panel, check back on our blog to find the session video.
