10 Steps for Building a Converting Webpage

Converting Webpage

We all know that any business needs to have a great website, but how do you get traffic to your site? You need to have even greater landing pages. A landing page, or converting webpage, is what is going to draw people in, and then you can start making sales. So, once you have created your website, it is time to create landing pages. Let’s get started.

1. Start from Scratch

Your landing page is created with one goal, and that is to draw people in. Make sure that there is nothing distracting them from this purpose. Get rid of as many links as possible, and even remove unneeded elements of the navigation bar. Keep them focused on what you are offering. One of the best ways to do this is to use a website builder with adaptive web design (AWD). The main difference of adaptive web design and responsive web design is that the content and layout are based on the actual device type, not a screen size. For example, AWD helps you change the main call-to-action on desktop to a click-to-call button on mobile.

2. Create a Great Headline

The headline should jump right out and grab the attention of readers, and make them want to learn more. It should be concise and to the point, so the reader immediately knows what the content will be about. Your headline should also be SEO friendly, so it ranks high on search engines.

3. Use a “Hero Shot”

Photos are a great way to grab attention, and videos can help increase your chances of sales by as much as 80%. A “hero shot” is the photo or video you use to illustrate what you are offering. Try to use photos or videos in all of your landing pages, and make offers look even more attractive.

4. Show them You’re Legit

A lot of people tend to be leery of offers and contests, so you need to show them that you are indeed legitimate. You can do this by displaying social proof. There are various ways to do this, from showing customer reviews to displaying the amount of people who have already taken part in the contest, etc.

5. Sell the Benefits

Make sure the body copy of your landing page really sells the benefits of what you are offering. Potential customers want to know what a product or service can do to enhance their lives, and this is where you need to show them so they click onto your site.

6. Show Time Constraints

Make sure that visitors see that your offer is for a limited time only, that there are only limited numbers of items available, etc. When people know there is a time constraint or limited quantities, they are often more apt to check out the offer right away.

7. Have a Standout Call to Action

The call to action is the last thing a visitor sees on your landing page. Make sure that it really stands out. It should be short and to the point, in a button form. It should be colorful so that they can’t help but notice it.

8. Test, Test, and Test Again

You need to test your landing pages to make sure they are effective. Test them before launching, and then again a few times after you publish it. Finding out what your audience wants is how you are going to know whether it is working, changes that need to be made, etc.

9. Use a Professional Template

Your landing page should look professional, so make sure that you use a professional landing page template, unless you are starting totally from scratch. This will look great, and give your page the visuals needed to draw visitors in.

10. Stick to One Page

A landing page is just that, a single web page. When they are multiple pages, your visitors are just going to end up becoming distracted. You can divide your page into sections, but try to keep everything on a single page.
