As a marketer in today’s information-overloaded society, you know that you must keep your content updated regularly to ensure that people continue to find you and know about you. Customers have to be touched by you 14 times before they remember you and 21 times before they will buy from you.

That means you must continue to use content to your advantage, so people can remember you and be willing to buy from you. One trick content marketers use is to create themes, such as fall, for their posts. Here are some ways you can use fall themes in marketing.

1. Tie headlines to keywords of the fall

If you think about what people search for in the fall, you can add these keywords in your headlines, which will give you an edge when people are searching. For example, pumpkin and pumpkin pies are two items that people search in the fall. You could write a blog about the most interesting pumpkin patches, the different types of pumpkins used in decorating or delicious ways to use pumpkins for food beyond pies. Then, connect the blog to your industry. Real estate websites can suggest some ways to decorate homes with pumpkins.

2. Hold costume contests on social media

Instagram and Facebook are great media for holding contests. You can ask your customers to take pictures of their costumes and post on your Facebook page or Instagram page. Then, you choose a winner and post the winning picture. This keeps your content fresh, uses Halloween in the theme and gets people engaged. The pictures also rank higher and are more searchable, which will improve your company’s recognizability.

3. Have a fall event

Promote an event that includes something about the fall. For example, if you are a landscaper, you might want to hold a fall festival where you showcase the flowers and landscaping you can use for fall. You also could demonstrate how to plant the bulbs for spring flowers in the fall. If you are a car dealership, you might want to hold an event where children can take a hayride on your lot while parents are test-driving their new vehicles. If you are a financial planner, you can host a seminar that helps people plan for the upcoming year’s tax season or investment strategies that work in the autumn years of life.

4. Send a press release with a fall theme

When marketers send press releases for companies, they have to ensure that the topic is newsworthy for business sections of print and online publications. To do that, you can think of the news in the fall. For example, dentists who collect candy in a buyback promotion and send them overseas to veterans, have a newsworthy topic they can put in a press release. Acupuncturists who know that the changes in weather affect certain balances of the body and ways to fix those problems can send a press release. Companies that have promotions for Breast Cancer Awareness Month or Domestic Violence Awareness Month should send a press release. Companies that team up with veterans to support troops also have news to share.

5. Hang fall on doors

Besides the digital content, you should remember other content opportunities too. Door hangers are effective for businesses dealing with the home. If you repair roofs and you are offering a fall special to get a roof checked before the winter weather comes, you can promote it using a door hanger. You can use pictures of leaves and homes on the hanger and add them to doors in the area. In addition to doors, you can send direct mail postcards with similar promotions and pictures. Posting these door hanger and postcard specials online will add to your searchability.

6. Use videos

You could ask customers to send a video of what makes them grateful. You can post the winning entry on your website. Or you can have other customers vote on their favorites. Not only does this increase your searchability and ranking, it engages your customers twice. This will link Thanksgiving, which is often overlooked as a holiday, to your company.

These are some ways that you can keep your content fresh while using themes revolving around the fall.
