MIP International Patent Forum 2017

This moggy will be padding his way next week along to the MIP International Patent Forum 2017, taking place on 8 & 9 March at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London. He hopes that some IPKat readers will be along there too. The conference organisers promise over 300+ patent counsel and private practice attorneys gathered to discuss the latest in international patent developments and there's even more reason for IP professionals to join the event this year. With the ratification of the UPC by the UK government in the face of Brexit, clarification on practical solutions on second medical use patents and developments from the first trade secret litigation in the US, this year’s Forum is not to be missed.

The current 25+ speaker line-up features participation from the European Patent Office, IBM, Nokia, DSM, Nissan, Novartis, Qualcomm, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Intel, US Chamber of Commerce, Ericsson, Barclays, BT, BAE Systems and many more.

Topics include:

  • Implications of Brexit on the Unified Patent Court (a rapidly changing topic, remarks Merpel)
  • Patentable subject matter
  • IP in Russia, in China, in Turkey, and in India
  • Implementing the Nagoya Protocol in Europe (an old favourite of this Kat)
  • Second medical use claims
  • The Patent Box regime
  • The changing landscape of FRAND
  • Trade Secrets Protection

For more information on topics, you can download the brochure.

The keynote speaker will be our very own Patents Court judge, Mr Justice Arnold (don't mention Swiss claims, says Merpel).

In-house, patent and IP counsel attend the Forum completely free of charge.
Private practice IPKat readers can attend for £995 + VAT.
