Katcall: So You Think You Can Blog? GuestKats and InternKat
The IPKat is on the prowl for new members of the team. We're looking to fill an intern post and are soliciting Expressions of Interest for GuestKat roles.
GuestKats:
GuestKat contributions keep the blog fresh and provide unique perspectives on IP. You can see a list of previous GuestKats here.
We are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for GuestKat posts. GuestKats are typically established in their field, and may be in early or advanced stages of their career. We are looking for those interested in blogging, with specialist IP expertise and good writing skills.
GuestKats are expected to contribute approximately four posts per month, and work with a member of the permanent IPKat team. The position lasts six months. The benefits of being a GuestKat include bringing your reading to a large (and engaged!) audience and developing your IP network.
EOI can be submitted here and require basic CV information, interest and a writing sample. The deadline for GuestKat EOI is Thursday, 20 April 2017 (midnight, GMT).
InternKat:
The IPKat team is looking for one keen intellectual property enthusiast to fill the position of InternKats.
Successful applicants will carry out their role for a period of 6 months, and be responsible for tasks including:
Round-up posts (example);
Never-too-late posts (example);
Around-the-blog posts (example);
Book reviews (example);
Updating the events calendar (here);
Reporting of statistics and analytics of the IPKat blog and coverage with a monthly round-up.
If the InternKats wish, they are also invited to write independent posts with a suggested contribution rate of about once a month. Throughout the period the InternKats will receive training as required for the tasks that the role involves, as well as mentoring and guidance from the IPKat team in writing posts.
Anyone may apply for this role, but the Kats think that it will be most suited to graduate students in the field of IP law or economics of IP, trainees (or recently qualified people) in one of the IP-related professions, or IP-enthusiasts in career transitions. We encourage previous applicants to re-apply. Interns can be located anywhere in the world.
Applicants should provide information about their career, motivation and a writing sample here.
The deadline for InternKat applications is Thursday, 20 April 2017 (midnight, GMT). The successful candidate will begin their internship on 1 May 2017.
N.B. There are no geographical restrictions on either role. Please make sure that you have your employer's permission to be part of the IPKat team before responding to this call.
