How to Surprise People with a Crazy Lapel Flower #WearableWednesday #wearabletech #Arduino #DIY

When I was a kid my dad used to surprise me with silly magic tricks. His favorite included palming a coin and pulling it out of an ear or nose, which wasn’t necessarily my favorite since it was easy to tell it was a fake. However, it did lead me to eventually buy those “advertised on TV” magic cards, the snake in the peanut can and other gags. Call me a geek, but I still enjoy magic, which is why I bust out laughing when I saw this Magic Lapel Flower by maker Saksham Sabharwal. Yes, the flower can show emotion while tucked in a pocket thanks to the magic of Arduino. This appears to be hack of a Sparkfun project with a flex sensor used as a switch. The sensor could be utilized in a glove, making it the perfect magician’s assistant. Another fun hack would be to have the servo react to a certain sound with a mic, making the flower truly mysterious. In any case, it’s a fun project that will probably make kids fall in love with you. If you want to make one yourself, check out our Pro Trinket paired with a Lipoly Backpack. This combo is really small and will help to keep the electronics flat behind your pocket. Let us know how you hack this flower project and we will gladly take videos of unsuspecting friends.
