The Industrial 101 is a small form-factor YUN designed for product integration.
The Arduino Industrial 101 is a break-out board for the Arduino 101 LGA module. Just like the YUN, it integrates an ATmega32U4 and an Atheros AR9331 with WiFi and Linino OS.

This is not true.

We cannot build our own board. First up, the links on both Arduino.cc and Arduino.org for the schematics say EAGLE FILES in .ZIP, the file name is:

When you download the file, it’s not an EAGLE file, it’s a .DSN file. This is an ORCAD DSN file which is also just a schematic that is not complete. The file has no information or layout included, it’s the same as the PDF. The WiFi/Linux logic is in a blackbox called ‘chiwawa’ module. This module has an Arduino logo on the PCB and tin. It appears to be exclusively designed by “Doghunter” (also the author of the Arduino Industrial 101 schematics):

The PDF does not contain any licensing information and the PDF is incomplete.

Generally speaking, it’s understood that some modules may not have open-source software, there might be NDAs, or it’s not open-source, it’s someone else’s. Once you put the Arduino trademark -on- it, the expectation is that you have some control over it. DogHunter is owned by the same person that owns Arduino.org (Federico Musto, CEO of Arduino, Linino, and DogHunter) – all of those logos are on the back of the Arduino INDUSTRIAL 101 board too. The Arduino-branded piece that’s missing source files is called the the “Chihuahua” module.
