Model Creates Hair Embroidery Hoop Art #ArtTuesday
Via Teen Vogue.
When you think of embroidery, #hairgoals probably aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. But, model Sheena Liam, who uses embroidery as a means of self-expression, will make you forget everything you thought you know about the needle-and-thread sewing method.
Sheena uses embroidery to create the most realistic — not to mention relatable — designs of women, with a clear focus on their hair. Also known as “hoop art,” the intricately threaded “drawings” depict women with flowing hair that appears 3D on the hoop. From waist-grazing, beautifully-woven braids and buns, to long loose locks that transcend the hoop itself, we’ve never witnessed stitching like this before. Sheena has posted some of her pieces on her personal Instagram, and each one has amassed a slew of comments from fans praising her jaw-dropping artistry.
