National Week of Making 2017 #NationOfMakers #WeekofMaking @NationOfMakers
Today is the first day of the 2017 National Week of Making! We’re particularly excited to be a part of this year’s celebration here at Adafruit. Be sure to tune in to the Adafruit blog where we will be posting about Makers in the U.S. every day for the next week with the tags NATION OF MAKERS and NATIONAL WEEK OF MAKING. Don’t forget to join in and share your favorite Maker on social media with #NationOfMakers and #WeekofMaking.
This year Nation of Makers is leading the National Week of Making effort. From WeekOfMaking.org:
Building on last year’s National Week of Making, this year’s Week will highlight the diversity of Makers big and small, young and old, urban and rural. The Week of Making is an opportunity to for individuals in communities throughout the U.S. to participate in Making activities locally, celebrating the innovation, ingenuity and creativity of Makers.
Makers are developing new solutions and products for pressing challenges, engaging students in hands on, interactive learning of STEM, arts, and design, and enabling individuals to learn new skills in fabrication and manufacturing. This site was created by Nation of Makers to support, encourage, promote, and highlight organizations from around the country who are working to create more opportunities for more people of all ages to make.
To kick this celebration off we highly recommend checking out the featured Maker Profiles on WeekOfMaking.org, where you can also submit a profile! Each profile contains links where you can learn more about the featured maker and see how each makers answers questions like “What does it mean to be a maker?” and “What are you doing in the maker community?”
Are you a Maker with an innovative project or an interesting story? Have you been an advocate or supporter for the Maker community in your city or town? If so, we want everyone to know about what you’ve been doing. We’ll be featuring profiles of incredible Makers, Maker Educators and Maker Advocates across the U.S. on the Week of Making site. Tell your story by submitting a profile here.
