Caesar Rules This Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Costume

Becoming a ruler of the apes takes time. Real Costume Company considered going full ape for a Planet of the Apes ensemble for three years. They finally took the plunge and decided to make a replica of Caesar’s costume from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. They spent seven months completing the project, and as with all their builds, they strove for screen accuracy and authenticity.

Their work on Caesar started with sculpting the character’s face, which you can see in the photo just below. Given how expressive Caesar’s face is, they spent a lot of time getting every detail and wrinkle right. They cast it from different materials to see what worked best. They tried gelatin and ultimately used latex.
