Mattermost Portable (32/64 bit) 3.7.1
"Will Slack users miss anything when they migrate to Mattermost? ... In general, proprietary SaaS apps don't let you migrate—so what your users will miss most is access to their own data, which will be paywalled from you." —Ian Tien (Co-creator of Mattermost), Quora.com (Jul 9, 2015)
"That it is self-hosted, you may use it within your organization. That's the reason we made the decision to go with Mattermost. Also the IRC integration gateway, which is utilized about 50/50 in this use case." —Consultant in Information Technology and Services, G2Crowd.com (March 11, 2016)
"Slack’s growth has shown that even seemingly ancient technologies like chat can still be improved, particularly when it comes to using instant messaging for work. But Slack has the limitations that all proprietary cloud apps do. Your data lives on someone else’s servers. Customization is limited. You have to trust that Slack the company will make the changes you want to Slack the app and not make changes you don’t want." —Klint Finley, wired.com (03.16.16, 7:00 am)Mattermost is an open source, self-hosted Slack-alternative. As an alternative to proprietary SaaS messaging, Mattermost brings all your team communication into one place, making it searchable and accessible anywhere.
