Xenoblade Chronicles Shulk’s Monado Build

Imgur user Sledgehammercosplay decided his first costume was going to be Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles. He says he didn’t really know how to sew then, so he hot glued a lot of things together. He got creative, too. Those rings on the vest? They’re plastic shower rings he painted. Sledgehammercosplay nailed the ensemble, especially the replica of Shulk’s Monado.

He used pink foam from the hardware store as a base for the weapon. Liquid nails cemented together the four layers of foam, and since he didn’t have any other tools at the time, he used a retractable razor to carve the entire thing. Then, he sealed the foam with 20 layers of wood glue. That was only the beginning. He documents the challenges and ins/outs of making the giant prop weapon at Imgur.
